Our Golden Story
Welcome to Saratoga Goldens, the home of some of the finest Golden Retrievers one can find. Our puppies are raised right here in upstate New York in a caring family with three attentive children and two loving parents! Our mama goldens are from premium stock, and the father dogs are among our region's best-available male dogs. We are blessed with “Knox” our very own stud dog, who has the “best PenHip score” our vet has seen in our region!
Saratoga Goldens is a family hobby Golden Retriever farm which utilizes healthy breeding practices. We study genetics and AKC pedigrees to ensure healthy and happy puppies while furthering healthy bloodlines. Steve grew up in a farming environment and studied genetics in 4-H in his youth while learning to care for animals, give vaccine shots, and gain an understanding of animals. Natalie has had a lifelong love for all things related to animals, dogs, horses, and rabbits, to name a few.
Please stay current by signing up for our "Waiting List” email. We will then contact you with the due date for our next litter of goldens. Please make sure to save our email address in your address book.
You can find the descriptions and photos for each mama dog (under “Golden Mamas”) and then choose which puppy litter you would like to choose from. Knox’s information is under “Golden Boys.”
Please sign up for “Litter News” and see the “Puppy Picking Process” below.

Picking Your Golden
Here is our simple puppy-picking plan:
The First Pick Male and First Pick Female purchase options will be available to buy in week #4 on the “Reservation Page.” It’s $100 and puts the buyer in the front of the picking line. The exact date/time will be published on the “Home Page.”
The first pick goes to the customer who has purchased the “first pick” male or “first pick” female puppy. First-pick purchasers “step in front of the picking line.” The “first pick” customer may visit the puppies in person.
Second Pick: The next customer to pick out their puppy via email (after “First Pick”) will now be pick #2, based on reservation order per litter, as we receive the reservations for male and female pups.
In week five, we will take unique pictures of the puppies to help our customers choose their puppy online. Each pup will be labeled with their collar color to use for identification. Customers can choose from the remaining pups by choosing their collar color. Customers can see the qualities and features of each dog very well in week 5 to help them choose their new dog. The photos will be listed on the mother dog’s litter website for customers to see. For example, Golden Litter Gallery/Maple’s Litter/Week 5.
We will contact customers on week 6 or 7 via email to ask their pick for a puppy based on the reservation order. This method has worked well; customers have several days to decide on their puppy instead of just 15 minutes. It’s such a fun time! Contacting customers in weeks 6-7 will ensure new owners have about a week to see the puppies' photos/videos and personality profiles to make their best decision. Please be flexible and patient as we list the remaining puppy choices. The last reservation will receive the remaining puppy after the rest have been chosen. Please use email, not Facebook/messenger, as email helps us track details better.
If customers already know their puppy’s name, please let us know. We will begin using it so the puppy becomes more familiar with it. After picking their puppy, customers can look for it in the upcoming photos and videos while they await pick-up day in week 8.
We contact customers directly via email in weeks 6-7 to schedule a puppy pick-up time for week 8.
The “First Pick” customers can come to pick out their puppy in person if they choose to do so. Most first picks just let us know via email which one they want. The first pick choice will be after the vet visit and week #6 vaccinations are completed. We want to ensure all the pups are healthy before they are chosen and customers' affection for a specific pup starts to develop. We hope to have all customers pick their puppy in their reservation order through our online photos/descriptions starting in weeks #6-7, as it is a good method of choosing the perfect puppy.
We hope to make picking and bringing your puppy home easy!
